Promise Ring, Sterling Silver Rings, Eternity Rings
Rings have been around since the ancient Egyptians about 5000 years ago. They are one of the oldest available pieces of jewelry that come in almost any size and shape. The ancient Egyptians used to use them as a symbol of marriage in the shape of a simple eternity ring. Since then, this tradition has managed to keep up between couples and has barely changed ever since.
Records have shown that the first of the promise ring has dated back since Shakespeares time around the 15th and 16th centuries. They represent a commitment between two individuals that are promising one another not to marry anyone but them. This was popular at the time and still remains until today but is more common with teenagers. Teenagers at a young age give it to their best friends and their significant others sometimes really meaning to have a promise ring and sometimes just as a simple friendship ring. The promise ring can be worn on any finger and does not necessarily need to be a specific shape or design. They are sometimes worn on the ring finger just as an eternity ring too. These are usually sterling silver rings that they are giving to someone else to represent the promise ring and the commitment they are giving one another.
Eternity rings are still used today to symbolize a marriage or engagement that has taken place. They are very simple sometimes plain being a simple sterling silver ring but most likely a more precious metal such as gold or platinum. They can also be more sophisticated still having the simple ring feature but with gems all around the ring. They can be very elegant and attracting causing attention for the wearer and to make sure everyone knows they are taken. Mostly women wear eternity rings that are filled with gems but there are eternity rings out there that have also been engraved with gems for men as well. Eternity ring are the simple and nice way of saying to others that you are taken out of the market and not available for someone else.
Essentially, both promise and eternity rings perform the same function for the wearer but depending whether this is pre or post marital. They have been around for centuries still symbolizing what they do and they will continue to do so. They are very elegant and give a nice touch to anyones finger and look very enchanting as well.
